ARISE Spotlight – Westwater Outlaws

by Kendra Hamman

wwothefox-40West Water Outlaws is a self-described “high energy rock n’ roll band” out of Boulder, Colorado adhere to the musical flavors of The Black Keys, and Led Zeppelin. West Water Outlaws started out playing in friend’s basements for parties, a rarity in the heavy EDM and dub step scene that has intoxicated Boulder partygoers. Their sound owns the spectrum between rock n ‘roll and dirty American bandstand jams that get your ass in gear.

This old school sound was appreciated enough to break through and reignite the energy only a live instrumental performance can do for a energy-hungry audience. They have since sold out the Fox Theater several times, and have headlined the Boulder Theater. Lead singer and guitarist Blake “Whiskey” Rooker’s soulful sexy voice perfectly compliments the down south keyboard melody all while lead guitarist Will Buck turns on the crowd with fast paced guitar riffs in, “Real Killer” off their Real Killer album released in 2012. Andrew Oakley drums in so many different styles that the audience might even think they are at a dub concert for a second during “Medicine.” West Water Outlaws ability to rock out and keep their styles ever changing makes for a performance you won’t forget.
