Video Premiere: The Sickly Hecks – “Four Years”

by Laura Giagos

Good music waits for no man, and pandemics make shit times for everyone, so what better time to release a sad-boy pop punk album?! Fort Collins-based The Sickly Hecks are doing just that with the release of their new full length album, Try and Fail, out January 8, 2021. The album’s lead single and video “Four Years” premieres exclusively via BandWagMag.com today.

Directed by Ben Ward with assistance from Ryan Frazee and bearing the production moniker Jank Films, the “Four Years” video delivers all the dead-pan rock glory of Cuervo shots and Burger King crowns. The track bears the album’s title “try and fail” in the lyrics; which, depending on how you read it, means the Sickly Hecks are either doomed from the start or invulnerable rock stars in the making. Clever juxtaposition of the band seeing themselves as time-worn clichés in the video elevate “Four Years” from simply well made to totally meta.
