Single Premiere: Kind Dub featuring Sarah Slaton – Limited Time

by Kevin Johnston

Established in 2013, the Fort Collins entity known as Kind Dub has put a multi-faceted stamp on Colorado’s underground music scene, not just as a hip-hop duo, but a collective based on the power of collaboration. Producing tracks and award-winning music videos for fellow Colorado artists, Kind Dub’s most recent co-credit work is the rap/pop crossover single “Limited Time,” featuring Sarah Slaton. It premieres below via today.

Not the type to just drop a single and leave it at that, both sides of the “Limited Time” authorship have much in store for their fans and community members alike.

Kind Dub will perform at the Poudre River Canyon’s beloved Mishawaka Amphitheatre venue in Bellvue for the 2nd Annual Hip Hop on the Hillside, Friday July 19th. PROF of Rhymesayers Entertainment will be this year’s headliner, though Kind Dub and support acts Thin Air Crew, Rolos and BBMC are sure to please. Live art, a pop-up vinyl record shop, and full-on drink and grub make Hip Hop On The Hillside a full-on affair worth arriving early for.

Sarah Slaton, meanwhile, released Dance In The Sun May 24, her first solo single since her former trio Edison disbanded. The multi-layered vocals here hint at a desire to collaborate with a group, as she has done with “Limited Time,” but the community vibe doesn’t stop there. A self-proclaimed out songwriter (which does not refer to an avant-garde musical style), Slaton will perform at Fort Collins Pride In The Park on Sunday, July 21st at 2pm, part of the FoCo Pride Fest which runs July 19-21.

“Limited Time” is a ‘life is short’ anthem touting that making positive impressions when things seem difficult is the best way to grow. Aligned with Slaton and Kind Dub’s perspectives on collaboration, the chill-tempo track flows on themes of connectivity, community and creativity. Stream it exclusively below before it drops worldwide tomorrow, July 12.
