1. Pernice Brothers: Spread The Feeling – The first album from the Pernice Brothers in 9 years proved they haven’t lost a beat.t
2. Kiltro: Creatures Of Habit – Colorado band releases a lovely album of Chilean inspired music. Don’t miss them at our 4th birthday party February 29!
3. Cass McCombs: Tip Of The Sphere – Cass McCombs can always be counted on for spare songs attached to meaningful observations.
4. A.A. Bondy: Enderness – A welcome return from AA Bondy, after an absence of 8 years. Enderness sees Bondy using modern sounds to explore modern life.
5. Robert Ellis: Texas Piano Man – Robert Ellis is a self-described Texas Piano Man and this album combines honky-tonk with Elton John inspired piano pop.
1. Kishi Bashi: Omoiyari – As winter descends, this album is full of warm summer vibes, punctuated with lush string layers.
2. Beck: Hyperspace – Yes, please. The new collaboration with Pharrell is more downtempo than Colors, and full of vibey, psychedelic. tinged rock.
3. The Heavy: Sons – How do I like you now? Even more!
4. Teskey Brothers: Run Home Slow – Sounds like it was recorded at Muscle Shoals… no surprises, just solid 60’s tinged soulful rock.
5. Maggie Rogers: Heard it in a Past Life – Had to revisit the album after seeing her live. Past Life proves she’s the real deal trying to cope with a whole bunch of attention.
1. Yola: Walk Through Fire – Fantastic debut album produced by Dan Auerbach. This is a genre bending recording that combines the best of Blues, Soul and Country.
2. Bloodshot Records 25 Years: Too Late to Pray – Defiant Chicago Roots – Bloodshot’s big one is the leading Alternative Country album in the world. To celebrate 25 years in existence they crammed 22 of their best songs onto one record.
3. Calexico and Iron & Wine: Years to Burn– It was 14 years between their first album together and this one. Let’s hope it doesn’t take that long for the next.
4. Lambchop: This (Is What I Wanted To Tell You) – Kurt Wagner just sounds cool, plus he is a great song writer. Terrific album from beginning to end.
5. Black Pumas: Black Pumas – Prior to their major label release there was a bidding war to sign the Black Pumas. ATO Records won the battle and you can hear why so many people are excited about this band on their debut.
