DENVER — On Sunday night, fans filled Mission Ballroom as Hippo Campus delivered a high-energy set, closing out the weekend with a mix of intricate guitar work and smooth vocals. Despite the looming workweek, the crowd showed up in full force, eager to escape into the band’s shimmering indie-rock sound.
Opening with “Way It Goes,” the five-piece group moved seamlessly through a dynamic setlist, blending fan favorites like “Buttercup” with newer tracks from LP3. Frontman Jake Luppen’s vocals cut through layers of dreamy instrumentals, while DeCarlo Jackson’s trumpet accents added depth to the performance. The band’s chemistry was effortless, feeding off the energy of a crowd that never lost momentum.
By the time they closed with “South,” the room swayed in unison, singing every lyric back at the stage. As fans stepped into the cool Denver night, the weight of Monday morning hadn’t quite set in—Hippo Campus had given them one last moment of freedom before the week ahead.
