Andy Sydow enters 2021 with “Piece of the Valley,” a raucous and bombastic single that pulls no punches, cramming together a ton of different elements including strings, horns, and even a choir, all on top of a booming piano rock song.
Worth noting is the production of this track. Everything is well arranged and defined, leaving the mark of someone with a clear ear for what they want. Sydow shoots for the fences with “Piece of the Valley”, and while it may not be a home run, he safely lands on second base. The boldness of it is to be commended and it will be exciting to see what comes next from Sydow, one of Colorado’s most notable working songwriters.
